Art and Theatre Camp

Join French theatre director and playwright Olivier Bonnardot (director of Sultan Bacchus theatre company) and visual artist and director of Early Childhood Creativity Orla Kelly for a wonderful week of fun through theatre games, story invention and creative art making. We will explore scriptwriting, acting, set design, directing, musical theatre, costume design and much more during this amazing summer camp. We will also put on a little show for parents and guardians in the finish. 

Lunch is not provided so please bring something delicious to keep you inspired.

Dates: July 4th - 8th

Ages: 7 to 13 years

Time: 9am to 2.30pm. (Early drop-offs accommodated from 8.40am.)

Price: €95 (early drop off +€15 payable on the first day)

Arty Toddlers

Early years creative sessions for parent and child in The Arty Yard. Explore the joy of the Arty Yard through paint, story, construction and play. Suitable for children aged 2 to 4 years. Dress for mess.

Places are very limited and booking is essential. Booking is available 3 weeks in advance to avoid block booking.

Fee: €6 per child

Time: 10.30am to 11.30am: Dates: May 17th, June 14th, August 23rd

Market Day is Arty Day!

(May to September)

The Arty Yard will open for fun drop-in art antics during the Summer Market Days (Last Sunday of the month May to September) from 10.30am to 3.30pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Suitable for children aged 2+ years.

Cost per child €5 payable at The Arty Yard. (Cash only)

Market Days: 29th May, 26th June, 31st July, 28th August, 25th September 

Creative Explorations

Creative Explorations are a series of themed creative investigations that aim to inspire participants by focusing on elements of the Castletown House collection and to investigate items on a deeper level. The house’s collection of costumes, wallpaper, stucco work, architecture, painting and sculpture will provide food for the curious. Each month one of The Arty Yard artists will take you on an adventure exploring the work within the house and participants will respond to create their own contemporary work inspired by the creative exploration of the collection.

  • June 8th:The Glass Collection. Castletown House has some of the most beautiful Italian glass. Explore these items and other decorative elements in the house and create your own work using tactile materials with glass artists Deirdre Rodgers.   • June 22nd: The Costume Collection. Explore the dress collection of Castletown House with designer Marta Golobowska and be inspired to create your own period costume using recycled materials. Click here to book for The Costume Collection 

  • July 13th:Accessories of the Georgian Period. Explore accessories of the Georgian period and create your own 21st century mock Georgian pieces with artist Jo May.

  • August 10th: The Sculpture of Castletown. Be inspired by the sculptural elements that grace every cornice and staircase of Castletown with contemporary sculptor Anne Cradden. Click here to book for The Sculpture of Castletown

  • September 14th:The Glory of Landscape Painting. Landscape painting was a beautiful and practical way to record land boundaries and property. We explore the painting collection of Castletown House and similar paintings done at this time in Ireland and make our own painting on canvas to record our view of this magnificent Palladian house. No creative experience necessary for any of the sessions, just enthusiasm required.

Time: 10.30am to 1.15pm

Cost per participant is €25 which includes all materials, tour and tuition.

Most suitable for those adults and children aged 12 +. However, feel free to enrol participants younger than 12 years if you believe they would really delight in this experience.
